			<title type="main">Summary</title>
<p>Hibiscus sabdariffa (Zobo), widely consumed in Nigeria for its nutritional and medicinal value, is known forits antioxidant and therapeutic properties. This study investigated the effects of aqueous Hibiscus sabdariffa(Zobo) extract on kidney and liver function, as well as body weight, in adult Wistar rats. Twenty-four adultWistar rats were divided into four groups (n=6). Group A served as control, while Groups B, C, and D received1 mg/kg, 2 mg/kg, and 3 mg/kg of Zobo extract, respectively, for 14 days. Body weights were recorded beforeand after treatment. Blood samples were collected post-sacrifice for kidney and liver function analysis.Significant weight gain was observed in the control (50.00 ± 9.50 g), 1 mg/kg (46.33 ± 3.23 g), and 3 mg/kg(40.67 ± 7.69 g) groups, while the 2 mg/kg group showed the least gain (26.00 ± 5.77 g). Elevated AST andreduced ALP levels were noted in treated groups, indicating possible hepatocellular stress. Urea levelsincreased in 1 mg/kg and 2 mg/kg groups, while creatinine decreased in the 2 mg/kg group. Zobo extractinfluenced body weight and induced dose-dependent alterations in hepatic and renal biomarkers, suggestingboth therapeutic and potential toxicological effects.</p>
