The corrosion inhibition characteristics of mild steel in 2 M H2SO4 using 4, 4′-(1,2-ethanediyldinitrilo)-bis-(2-pentanone) Schiff base was studied by weight loss method. It was studied in the absence and presence of different concentration of Schiff base at different temperatures (303 – 353 K) and time intervals (2 – 24 h). The result obtained was used to calculate the surface coverage, corrosion rate and the inhibition efficiency of Schiff base. The inhibitor at high concentration (0.0893 M) showed high inhibition efficiency and low corrosion rate at room temperature (303 K) but at high temperature (333 K – 353 K) there was reduction in inhibition efficiency and an increase in corrosion rate. The zero order was best used to explain the kinetics and the adsorption of Schiff base molecules onto the mild steel followed the Langmuir isotherm model.
